Aliens in 4K UHD

It’s been a very long time coming, but James Cameron’s Aliens is finally coming to 4K. After months of rumors and speculation, Disney and 20th Century Studios have officially confirmed that the 1986 sci-fi/horror classic will be making their way to 4K Ultra HD.

Initially the release will be next week, on the 12th of December, but an Ultra 4k Ultimate Collector's Edition will be out on 12th March 2024. Hopefully, my poor 1080p iTunes version will get the automatic resolution upgrade that Alien received a few years ago. And if it's in Atmos....hooooo-boy.

I will absolutely be buying the physical disc though. I don't trust streaming services and on-line stores to hold titles anymore. I recently lost Source Code without a word from Apple when it lost the rights to distribution in Australia, and had to work hard to get a refund for a movie I never even had a chance to watch. Additionally, I much prefer the quality from physical media over streaming. I'm definitely a convert and have recently purchased over $600 in movies in the Black Friday sales from JB Hi-Fi.

This movie has been high on my wish list for a long time, especially after the 4K release of Alien, and I am super chuffed to see it coming to the superior format next week.
