Cupertino Apple Store Closure
Apple confirmed that it will be permanently closing its Infinite Loop retail store in Cupertino, California on 20th January 2024.
"After many years of serving customers at our stores in the Bay Area, we plan to close our store at Infinite Loop," an Apple spokesperson said, in a statement shared with MacRumors. "All of our valued team members will have the opportunity to continue their roles with Apple. We look forward to welcoming our customers at our nearby Apple Park Visitor Center and other locations, on Apple.com, and the Apple Store app."
I had the pleasure of visiting this store on my pilgrimage to Cupertino in August of 2017 (gallery below), and of course it was quite busy. The Infinite Loop retail store has a lot of merchandise that can only be purchased on site, no mail order options at all. You need to physically go to the location to buy these items. On the day I grabbed my self a Crazy One black t-shirt, which is made of the finest material. Luxurious. I also purchased an Apple-branded Retro 51 Tornado Roller Ball Pen, which you simply cannot get anywhere else. This pen is absolutely perfect, with a minimalist design of brushed aluminium and a small grey Apple logo on the side.
It’s such a shame this little store is going away. I’ve yet to see the new one at the Visitors Centre at Apple Park, but I’ll definitely get over there one day.
A little side note, I did try and sneak through the main entrance into where Caffe Macs (sic) is located by tailgating in behind an employee while the guard was distracted. Unfortunately he saw that I hadn’t swiped a badge and inquired as to where I was going. The jig was up and I never made it inside. Oh so close though!
