Google NotebookLM is an innovative tool designed to streamline the way you capture, organise, and enhance your notes. Leveraging advanced AI capabilities, it allows users to create and annotate notes seamlessly, combining both handwriting and typing. But one of its little secrets is the ability to turn almost anything into a short podcast episode between two hosts of around 5-10 minutes in length.

I showed my wife an example of a ten minute podcast about the words “poop” and “fart” repeated 1,000 times. High brow stuff, I know. But the AI took that simple document and extrapolated out a convincing 10 minute podcast episode. My wife suggested I do it for one of my own blog posts, just prove it wasn’t a load of BS. She was convinced “Poop and Fart Podcast” wasn’t AI generated. So I did.

I fed the AI my article on ownership of digital media and how I lost my own movie to the gods of digital rights, and you can listen to the 5 minute episode below, fed only by a link to my article. Not only does it discuss my situation directly, but ponders the ownership of digital media in the modern age, including issues with DRM lock-in. Of particular note is the exasperation the male host exhibits when dealing with customer relations. If I didn’t tell you this episode was AI generated, would you even know, or suspect it?
