Vaonis Smart Telescope Update

Vaonis recently had an announcement affecting my telescope, the Vespera II, as well as all other telescopes in the line-up. The announcement included:

Vaonis elevates once again the astrophotography game with smart telescopes becoming the first to offer automated and effortless image acquisition over multiple nights.

Multi-Night Observations

This new functionality will allow the same object to be observed across multiple nights, up to five. It will also allow incorporation into Plan My Night for multiple targets across multiple nights. This will reduce the need to observe and stack individual TIFs, greatly reducing time in my photographic workflow.

Live Mosaic 2

This new Mosaic mode will let me observe deep sky objects at up to 24 megapixels resolution (the Vespera Pro got a boost to 50), further improving images such as the Veil Nebula pictured here. This example is a mere 19 megapixels, and required manual multi-night observations that were stacked in PixInsight.

This will now automatically be taken care of by the Vespera II for improved detail and clarity.

Plan My Night 2

Plan My Night now incorporates the two features above to allow set-and-forget observations all night. Both Multi Night and Live Mosaics can be planned in the app when attached to the telescope making life sooooo much easier.

Conclusion

These quality of life improvements are absolute game changers for how I observe the night sky with my Vespera II. I will be making use of all of these features, as long as I have clear skies. If only there was a software update to allow that!
